The Great Pumpkin Story

Well it's not that great but it's ours. In the 9 years we've been married we've never once carved a pumpkin. Jason won't touch the guts (who can blame him) and I'm not going to carve one on my own. I had no intension of doing one this year either, I figured I'd wait one more year till Aden had a better understanding of Halloween but the kid is pumpkin crazy so for $2.50 I figured I'd give it a shot. I thought he'd really enjoy it. I was really wrong!

Aden was all gung ho until I took the top of the pumpkin off. Imediately he started saying "Me no likey" over and over for the next half an hour while I carved the pumpkin on my own. He even went off to play with toys at one point chanting "Me no Likey" the whole time. See the look on his face? It tells it all!
Jason got this funny one!
Aden did begin to think it was pretty cool when I popped the first eye out.
When I was done the whole pumpkin Aden started to say, "I like it!".
Showing off the pumpkin and I believe saying cheese to the camera.
I told him to smile for this picture. Not sure what kind of smile that is but it sure is cute!
Okay so the pumpkin carving was Friday night. Here are pictures of actual Halloween night. Aden would not wear a costume. I showed them to him at the store and he'd just start saying no, no, no over and over. I tried to get his costume from last year on him and he started crying histerically like I was torturing him. We tried talking to him about it for a good week before to ease him in but come the day of Halloween he still didn't want anything to do with a costume. So....we improvised. We got out his Hocky track suit, put a slightly too small Calgary Flames hat on him and gave him a mini hockey stick. He was set and looked pretty cute I might add! He also got lots of comments so it definitely worked!
Our neighbours are huge Flames and Stampeders fans and carved out the logo of both into pumpkins. They set the Flames one out for us so we could get a pic. Aden wasn't too co-operative though.
Going Trick our Treating with dad. Aden actually really liked this and didn't understand why we were skipping certain houses. They only went to 7 houses but Aden got a ton of candy!
Finally at home, ready to go through his loot.
And that's our Halloween for another year. Aden was not too into it. Perhaps he got that from me, oops! Hopefully by next year he'll understand a bit better.
Happy belated Halloween to all!
