In the Calgary airport on our way to Florida Jason saw in a paper that the second to last shuttle launch was taking place at the Kennedy Space Center the Monday we were going to be in Florida. Seeing a shuttle launch in real life is hard to predict because the launches often get scratched at the last minute due to weather. So Sunday night we decided to give it a shot and Monday morning we woke up early.....early!!! We pile in the car and headed East. We weren't really sure where we were going. Eventually we made it to Merritt Island where we headed north looking for a place to stop. We saw a sign saying you could see the shuttle launch from a nearby park so we headed there and found ourselves right on the water. The love bugs sucked but the launch of the shuttle Endeavour was amazing. It only lasted a few seconds and then the shuttle disappeared behind some clouds (stupid clouds) but it was worth it! What was also amazing was about a minute after the launch the sound of it hit us, very quietly at first and then it got louder. That was amazing! Talk about good timing!

This is the dock you could walk out on. It was pretty full when we got there so we opted for another location.
Okay it's super hard to see but just to the left of the guy in green is the shuttle. Very, very tiny!!!!

And now it's behind some clouds. Would have been amazing if there hadn't been any cloud cover that day.
Before the launch a group of Manatees were playing and drinking water out of hoses in the marina just behind where we were waiting. Very cool!
